Surrey’s funding split: an urgent decision to follow up
The published notice sets out a funding decision timetable; the final outcome still needs confirmation.

What the notice establishes
A Surrey County Council notice published on 14 September sets out work to divide settlement funding between East Surrey, West Surrey and the future Combined Fire and Rescue Authority. It lists a county decision for 17 September and an MHCLG submission deadline of 18 September.
The notice invokes special urgency and says the scrutiny chair agreed to waive call-in. It also covers the fire authority’s 2026/27 Band D alternative notional amount, a baseline for the reorganisation process.
What this does not confirm
A scheduled decision is not evidence of its outcome. This site has not verified final allocations, whether the submission was made, or an adopted 2027/28 household council-tax bill.
Our assessment: the follow-up should link the signed decision and allocation figures, explain the basis of the split and show how those figures feed into each authority’s budget. The urgency process also makes an accessible decision record particularly useful for public scrutiny.
